Chapter 957: Portrait of a Shout ~ Passion lives here ~ (叫びの肖像)

This is the Sakurajima monument, portrait of a shout! This piece of work was inspired by Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi who held an all-night rock concert here, performing from evening to the next morning on the 21st of August 2004. That’s crazy plus 75,000 people gathered here, people came from all over Japan to goto Sakurajima, a fun fact, the population of Sakurajima is only 6000. So this was a big deal! The statue itself however was completed and unveiled on the 19th of March 2006, it was sculpted by Hiroshi Oonari. It was certainly one of the most interesting ones I’ve seen, very unique, made from lava rock and sort of out of place yet pretty cool at the same time.
