Chapter 932: Lord Shimazu Tadayoshi Statue (島津忠義公像)

Lord Shimazu Tadayoshi was the son of Shimazu Hisamitsu, he became the daimyo (feudal lord) and was the 29th head of the Shimazu Clan in Kagoshima. You can find this bronze statue at the Tanshoen park that was put in place during 1917. The statue was also designed by Asakura Fumio who was a famous sculptor and artist that is well known for his Western Style sculptors throughout the Meiji, Taisho and Showa eras of Japan. There is also a museum in Tokyo called: The Asakura Museum of Sculpture (台東区立朝倉彫塑館) that features his work, located near Nippori Station.
