After dropping off my luggage at the hotel. I began my journey! I had a few places in mind, one being the Shiroyama Park Observation Deck to get a beautiful view of Sakurajima. Following google maps I went towards the Terukuni Shrine and found 2 golden statues, later on I found out there were many of these kinds of statues around the city.
Historically, this was about the Sakuradamongai incident that occurred during 1860, the tug of war between the Shogunate and reforming forces which resulted in the assassination of the chief minister thus the Shogunate lost its grip on power. This pair of golden statue is of Yoshii Tomozane and Ijichi Shoji from the late 19th century depicting them having a conversation about political change.

Was that when they killed Ii Naosuke? Very interesting guy, and the time period is fascinating.
