On the other side of the Kintaikyo Bridge is a park called Kikko Park. At the entrance you are greeted by the statue of Kikkawa Hiroyoshi, the 3rd lord of Iwakuni. During the Edo Period the Kikkawa family lived here, because the location had many former samurai residences, a museum was built to house many historical artefacts, unfortunately I didn’t go as I got to Iwakuni quite late. The park features many walking paths filled with lovely nature, it is very spacious and a relaxing place to visit!

I would recommend visiting Iwakuni, I haven’t had time to explore more, but in the near future I really want to re-visit Iwakuni and see more of its beauty!!
