Zenkō-ji is a Buddhist temple in Nagano with a lot of history dating back to the 7th century. Interestingly it is the first temple in Japan to store the first Buddhist statue brought into the country when the religion was introduced in the 6th century. The wooden architecture is very beautiful and you can enter to the top floor to have a good view. Also, you can go through an underground tunnel in the pitch darknesses. When you come out there will be a mirror, it’s like to be reborn and start afresh according to one of the staff members. Overall it was a wonderful experience.

I was wondering if you had visited this temple during your Nagano visit. It’s a very impressive complex where one can feel the history you talk about.
