I was staying at a little hotel down Higashiyama, Kyoto for approx. 5000 Yen/Night. It’s located a bit off from central but it’s surrounded by many things to see! It’s about a 10-15 minute walk from Higashiyama Station, and it’s only 20 minutes via subway from Kyoto with 1 transfer from Karasuma-Oike. Check in time was at 3 and check out is from 10. I arrived early to drop off my luggage so I could go off to explore the horizon.
I was in room 362 on the 3rd floor. My luggage had already been taken to my room so I wouldn’t have to struggle up the stairs. Unfortunately there were no lifts in the building, so for those with more baggage it may be a bit of challenge. My room was small and fit for 1-2 people, tatami mat layered floors, with a tiny little bathroom. It is a bit outdated, especially with the taps and showers, you get either the scorching HOT or sub-zero COLD, and have to adjust it accordingly to get the right temperature.
You get all the usual amenities: Yuakta PJ’s, Toothpaste, Tooth Brush, Soap, Towels, 1 pack of sample shampoo, kettle, a small fridge, a torch, free wifi, and green tea. But I didn’t get a hair-dryer. I had no idea how to lay out the futon and asked google. . .It was easier than I thought. It was so cosy and I slept like baby!! Plus the hotel was very quiet, you can’t even hear a sound. There is also a communal bath area down stairs, booklets and leaflets with tourism information. Overall, it was a good stay!!
