Shuri Castle Gate & Grounds. After exploring the interior of the castle it was a great day exploring the grounds. The weather that day was beaming with sunshine and cool breezes. There were a lot of tourists around especially during noon. Most tourists that day were from Chinese speaking countries, and were in big tour groups! There were also a lot of school kids on a field trip to learn about the history of the Ryukyu Kingdom. I personally really enjoyed visiting Shuri, I would recommend visiting early in the morning. Shuri grounds are free, if you wish to visit the castle you will have to purchase a ticket. During one of the routes to the castle, there is a stand where you can rent traditional clothing from the Ryukyu Kingdom era which may be interesting for those who fancy dressing up to experience the culture further!
